London six-piece Slumber return with ‘Days Like These’, their most honest release yet. Following the indie-sleaze flair of ‘Julian Casablancas (I Wanna Rock A Pair Like)’ and the grunge chaos of ‘1993 (Shake It)’, this third single trades swagger for self-reflection.
Drifting on woozy Dinosaur Jr.-inspired guitars and softened by warm harmonies, ‘Days Like These’ captures the quiet clarity that arrives once the noise fades. It’s a song for looking out of train windows, flirting with escape, but grounded by the presence of those who stick around.
“The comedown,” say the band. “A letter to yourself when you’ve convinced yourself everyone hates you.”
