There has always been something refreshingly unpretentious about Social Gravy. While much of modern indie-rock either disappears into detached coolness or overcompensates with forced nostalgia, Brad Kohn and Vee Bordukov continue operating in a space that feels instinctive and emotionally direct. Their latest single 'Get Away' captures that balance particularly well, combining guitar-driven immediacy with the kind of melodic confidence that feels built for open roads, restless nights and moments of emotional escape.
Serving as the second glimpse into the upcoming 'The Pebble EP', the track expands naturally on the duo’s established sound while sharpening its emotional edge. There’s a looseness to 'Get Away' that works in its favour. The guitars move with urgency, carrying flashes of classic alternative rock energy, while the vocal delivery balances weariness and momentum in equal measure.
Social Gravy have long understood how to make accessible rock music without sanding away its personality, and 'Get Away' continues that tradition. The hooks land naturally, allowing the track’s emotional undercurrent to develop without sacrificing immediacy. There are traces of late-90s and early-2000s alternative rock woven throughout the song’s DNA, but the duo avoid becoming trapped in simple revivalism. Here, they channel those influences into something modern, melodic and emotionally grounded.
What makes the single particularly effective is its sense of movement. The arrangement pushes forward constantly, mirroring the emotional impulse suggested by the title itself. Whether interpreted as a desire for physical escape, emotional distance or simply a temporary release from modern exhaustion, the song captures the universal urge to break free from repetition and noise.
As anticipation builds toward 'The Pebble EP', 'Get Away' suggests Social Gravy are continuing to refine what they already do best. Delivering us emotionally honest rock music driven by strong hooks, lived-in songwriting and the enduring power of guitars that still know how to soar.
