Summerhouse capture the rush before it all goes wrong on new single ‘Burn All Night’

Summerhouse’s ‘Burn All Night’ lives in that brief, thrilling window before consequences arrive. The second single from Conall Hill’s forthcoming debut EP rewinds the story introduced on ‘All I Know’, returning to the night when attraction still felt uncomplicated and the future had not yet had time to become messy. With blackbird (the alias of French vocalist Angie Robba) at the centre, the track turns flirtation, nerves and barely concealed desire into a rush of indie-pop euphoria.

Hill’s production makes that emotional arc feel almost physical. Bright synths, distorted guitars, playful glockenspiel touches and restless drums give the track a buoyant, almost giddy quality, while Robba’s vocal brings enough warmth and control to stop everything tipping into pure sugar.

But the most effective moment comes when that brightness suddenly gives way. The bridge drops into a darker, more spacious passage, with deep bass, descending melody and reverberating vocals creating the sense of somebody realising they are about to cross a line. Then the chorus comes crashing back.

It's that return that gives ‘Burn All Night’ its biggest release, with guitars, synths, cymbals and drum fills piling together into a cinematic wall of sound. The euphoric payoff feels even more impactful precisely because Hill briefly allows doubt to creep into the picture.

As a prequel to the more fractured relationship explored elsewhere on the EP, ‘Burn All Night’ carries a bittersweet edge even at its happiest. For now, though, Summerhouse let the characters have their moment.
