Buckinghamshire duo Suris return with ‘Pertinax’, a new album that leans into the softer edges of alt pop and art rock while keeping a strong sense of purpose at its core. Across its thirteen tracks, ‘Pertinax’ drifts between piano led ballads, shimmering synth passages and gently cinematic guitar work. There is a patient quality to the songwriting, with melodies given space to unfold and lyrics that feel rooted in reflection and resolve. Made up of Lindsey and David Mackie, the project reflects a long running partnership that favours instinct and emotion over spectacle.
Speaking about the album, Suris explain, “The album title means ‘To persist, stoically’, which truly sums us up – music is deeply embedded in our life and marriage, so we can’t help but continue writing, recording and producing! With this collection, we wanted to present a diverse and surprising range of songs covering themes of persistence, longing and resilience.”
