Chris Jones, under the moniker of These Brittle Bones, has masterminded the project to evolve from folk origins to ambient-electronic instrumentalism. These changes have developed as Chris has as a person, opening doors for the artist the innovate and inspire. Throughout 2023, Jones is releasing six singles that represent the feels of the Covid pandemic through instrumental, conveying emotions without words.
With elements from ambient and more upbeat electronic music, These Brittle Bones’ latest single ‘You Are All (I Know)’ is a refreshing and exciting new direction for the artist. Whilst still staying true to his signature sound for this project, he brings in new elements with a very clean, energetic percussion section towards the end of the track that he graciously builds into. We still get the spacey, celestial feel that we’ve enjoyed so far, it’s a great crossover single.
Chris shares, “‘You Are All (I Know)’ has been in gestation for roughly six years. I came up with the initial riff in 2017 and the tune has been floating about since then in various forms - acoustic, electronic, with vocals, without - but the final version emerged out of a particularly creative burst of energy during lockdown. Revising this song over such a long period, during which time I’ve gone through some huge changes, I feel like I’m time travelling to some extent, or at least having a conversation with former selves. In many ways that reflects what I think the song was originally about - self-knowledge, development, and the passing of time.”
