Vera Weber operates at a rare intersection of cinematic and musical storytelling. A CalArts-trained performer-composer and Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist, Weber moves effortlessly between piano, harpsichord, and voice, creating compositions that feel both intimate and expansive. Her work blurs the line between traditional scoring and contemporary songwriting, giving each project a layered, emotionally rich identity.

Her screen work is extensive, spanning two mini-series—Take the Money and Run and Am Ende – Die Macht der Kränkung—and eight European television films, while her songwriting for Netflix’s Woman of the Dead (Season 2) demonstrates an ability to translate narrative nuance into melody. Notably, Rosebud, a collaboration with longtime partner Caleb Veazey, functions as a queer anthem and emotional touchstone for the series, performed on-screen by trans actress Hayal Kaya in a pivotal moment of the story.

Weber’s approach has garnered significant recognition. In 2025, she earned a Hollywood Music in Media Award nomination for Rosebud, a TeleVisionale Weimar nod for Ewig Dein, and a German Television Academy nomination alongside her father Matthias Weber for Die Stille am Ende der Nacht. Across these projects, her compositions balance vocal intimacy, harmonic complexity, and cinematic narrative, reflecting a meticulous attention to emotional detail.

Beyond screen scoring, Weber maintains a vibrant performance life, touring internationally and performing at venues from Carnegie Hall to REDCAT. Her dual identity as composer and performer, rooted in a transatlantic career and hybrid sound design, makes her a defining voice in contemporary music—one whose work continues to evolve at the crossroads of narrative, emotion, and innovation.
