York’s rising alt-rock outfit YouVee are back with a surge of energy on their thunderous new single ‘Walk Of Fame’, a track that crystallises the momentum the four-piece have been building across the northern alternative scene. Blending razor-sharp riffs, pounding rhythms and soaring, dream-tinted vocals, the band deliver a sound that’s as cinematic as it is visceral, a whirlwind portrait of ambition, chaos and the magnetic pull of modern-day recognition.
The single arrives sharpened under the ear of acclaimed producer Pieter Rietkerk, known for his work with Catfish & The Bottlemen, Slowdive, Editors and The Royston Club at Chapel Studios. With Rietkerk at the helm, ‘Walk Of Fame’channels the intensity of a sweat-drenched live set into a polished, radio-ready punch. Double-kick drums and metal-leaning undertones underpin the track’s heavier moments, while melodic indie-rock flourishes and sweeping strings elevate it into something bold, dramatic and instantly gripping.
In a statement, the band describe the single as a tongue-in-cheek jab at the industry’s inner workings:“Walk of fame captures, and mocks the industry in a sense it feels like when someone is nepotistic or wealthy, they are more likely to have better opportunities in the industry - such as focus on me I’ll focus on you and the verses are rebelling against that view. Walk of Fame was recorded in 2024 as part of our singles project, with Walk of Fame being the 3rd since our last EP. It's the rockiest single that we recorded in those sessions, so it really gave us a chance to crank everything up and go a bit crazy on it - we even put a string section in!"
Formed in early 2020, YouVee quickly carved out a distinct post-indie, psychedelic-leaning identity. Their debut run of singles - ‘UltraViolet’, ‘New Emotion’ and ‘Mooreside’ - earned swift attention, with BBC Radio York’s Jericho Keys hailing the trio as a “hattrick” of striking first releases. What followed was a steady rise: two acclaimed EPs, including 2023’s ‘The Print White Black’, launched to their largest audience to date, and a series of standout appearances on BBC Introducing across Yorkshire and Humberside. The band also caught wider national attention through performances at the BBC Introducing: Welcome to Yorkshire Gig and BBC Radio 6 Music’s Independent Venue Week, where they supported The K’s.
With recent singles ‘Peacemaker’ and ‘Fancy People’ signalling their growing confidence, ‘Walk Of Fame’ feels like the boldest chapter yet in YouVee’s evolution. And with more releases and shows already on the horizon, the York quartet look set to keep climbing—one explosive track at a time.
