5 Songs I Love w/ Cassy London

Following the release of her new pop anthem 'New Age', we caught up with pop riser Cassy London to find out more about the songs that she loves! If you're a fan of any of the tracks below, be sure to listen to 'New Age'!

1. Imagine Dragons “Wrecked”

I could go on for days about my love for Imagine Dragons. They have this amazing way of taking you on a roller-coaster of emotions varying from feeling sad, to feeling inspired in almost every song! The first time I heard “Wrecked” was on the radio I was hooked! It starts off mellow which is nice and then completely surprises us with a killer chorus (as usual.) I immediately pulled up my Spotify and added it to my favorites, probably playing it 5 or 6 times in a row while driving down Ventura Blvd in LA! This one’s definitely in my top 5 this year because I too struggled with losing a loved one and “Wrecked” beautifully captures the stages of grief and gives strength to those going through it.

2. Ellie Goulding “Lights”

I’ve always been a fan of Ellie, as a listener I feel that she’s super authentic to herself. “Lights” is one of my favorite songs; it really showcases her distinct tone and has a message and story behind it. Although it leans mostly towards “electropop,” there’s a folk sound that makes it unique and comforting. It’s a classic for me and a true original for Ellie!

3. Chvrches “Miracle”

“Miracle” is an epic song; I relate so much to it as it focuses on finding hope and a sense of belonging. There’s lots of dynamics going on from her airy vocals in the first verses, to a drum-powered chorus, giving it a different sound than fans were used to. It’s one of those songs you’d listen to before a big workout or before an event that you’d need an adrenaline boost for!

4. Stevie Nicks “Stand Back”

Where do I begin with “Stand Back?” So many memories attached to it! My parents loved Fleetwood Mac, so growing I listened to their records a lot; I’d say Stevie was a big influence for me as a female vocalist. When I released my debut EP “Realm,” “Stand Back” was the first cover I recorded professionally, and it ended up getting pretty popular that I went back in the studio and made a remix of it too! I’ve always loved the way Stevie’s vocals are in this song, she has this carefree attitude that’s empowering. It also has a great story, knowing Prince has his fingerprint on it makes it extra special!

5. Virginia to Vegas “Just Friends”

“Just Friends” is such a fun and good mood song! I listened to this continuously in 2020 when we were all at home! I discovered loads of new music that year, so that’s one part that was positive! The relatable and cheeky lyrics are what caught my attention. It’s upbeat and never really takes you down at any point, it keeps the energy throughout the whole song which is a refreshing change, plus the melody is extremely catchy!
