Following the release of their latest single 'Fly', Flex caught up with International jazz-tronica trio FM Experiment to discover what influences their unique blend of live jazz improvisations and electronic textures. If you enjoy FM Experiment's picks, be sure to check out 'Fly' at the end of the article.

1. Tom Misch — Kyiv

The drum groove alone is enough to hook you in, but it's Rocco Paladino's bassline that truly sets the mood — a deep, warm foundation for Tom's guitar to float over. The reverb-drenched guitar tones add a layer of texture that feels almost atmospheric. Everything is in service of the groove, yet nothing feels simple. It's the kind of tune that's both incredibly musical and effortlessly cool.

2. Alexander Flood — Berlin

What makes Berlin so special is how it blurs the line between acoustic and electronic — live instruments played with such precision that they feel like machines, yet somehow warmer and more alive. Everything is impossibly tight, and the sounds themselves are just gorgeous. The flute melody carries this quiet, understated beauty that lingers long after the track ends. It's a pure vibe — nothing more, nothing less.

3. Tame Impala — The Less I Know The Better

An absolute classic. The guitar riff is iconic, the tones are immaculate, and the whole thing is so relentlessly catchy it almost feels unfair. Even the music video adds to it — artistic, narrative, and visually stunning in a way that deepens the song's world. It's one of those rare tunes where everything — production, melody, energy — lines up perfectly.

4. Radiohead — Everything in Its Right Place

One of the most legendary album openers ever recorded. The synth riff moves in an odd meter, yet it never once feels like it does — which is itself a quiet compositional miracle. The chopped vocals build this dark, almost world-ending tension, and then Thom's real voice arrives so soft and weightless it breaks something open. Through all that underlying chaos, the title starts to feel like a genuine, hard-earned truth.

5. Bonobo — Stay the Same

This track has a floating, almost underwater quality — a watery, drifting sensation that somehow never loses its groove. The textures are rich and layered, the production is immaculate, and the vocals feel so intimate they pull you in close. It's the kind of song you never want to end, because being inside it just feels too good. One of the most hypnotic, effortlessly beautiful tracks in the electronic space.
