We sat down with Mouth Water after the release of hos stellar new tune 'Rise (warner case remix), to discuss what influences shaped his unique sound. Be sure to check out the single at the bottom and follow him on socials!

LCD Soundsystem - Get innocuous

This is probably my favorite LCD Soundsystem song and I distinctly remember its album Sound of Silver being one of the last CD’s I ever purchased. The song has an amazing buildup, almost like a giant robot slowly coming to life. In fact, the repetitive bass line is basically a reinterpretation of Kraftwerk’s The Robots and is one of those tracks that made me fall in love with this kind of sequenced synthesized bass line which I’ve used all over my own productions. I also really like how traditional song structure goes out the window as the vocals (sounding a lot like the Talking Heads) come into the song after more than two minutes and I’m not even sure there is a chorus. Maybe it’s the female voice towards the end singing the song title once?

Solomun - Home

Another track with an amazing slow buildup, and no cheesy risers, just an uplifting combination of synths and percussion that even led me to create a track in the same vein named House. Home was released on late 2020 in the middle of the covid era and has since inspired me to create instrumental tracks using only my analog synths and having loads of fun in the process, rather than stressing out in the pursuit of pop appeal.

The Beatles - Because

This is just one of the Beatles songs that display their amazing vocal harmonizing abilities. It’s one of my favorites from their later repertoire, but in the early days when they still performed, they were able to sing these harmonies live while playing their instruments, which blows my mind. They have been the main inspiration for the vocal harmonies I almost always include in my non-instrumental tracks.

Goldfrapp – Your Lovely Head

Goldfrapp are my favorite duo of all time, and ever since seeing Will Gregory in some video playing in front of a massive wall of synthesizers, I have always wanted to be like him. It was one of the moments that got me interested in synthesizers. When a few years ago I came across a vintage Korg MS20, I purchased it immediately because I had read this was the synth Goldfrapp’s vocals were processed through on this song. I studied the thing extensively and it’s now one of the go-to synths I use when I’m looking for unexpected results.

Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder – I Feel Love

This is one of the pioneering songs that brought electronics to dance music. The combination of Donna’s ethereal vocals and Giorgio’s synth layers, especially the sequenced bass lines never seem to get old and keep coming up in big name remixes to this day. This song is basically one of the main inspirations for the more danceable thracks I attempt to make with Mouth Water.
