5 Songs I Love w/ Silvre

UK based artist Silvre creates impassioned pop. Following the release of her debut single "You Don't Really Like Him", she's back with yet another addictive offering with “Call Me What You Want” - exploring the toxic social media landscape.

Silvre uses her music as a means to explore her emotions and intimate experiences. With this comes a vast array of creative influences, and we dug deep to find out which artists have inspired her along the way.

Check out her choices below, and make sure to stream "Call Me What You Want" while you're at it!

Banks - 'Poltergeist'

I love the majority of Banks' tracks, but this is my favourite! It includes so many of her trademark touches that have certainly filtered into the production of my music - synthesised vocals and ghostly backing samples, power piano, thumping bass and a breakdown at 2.22 that is pure perfection. It is screaming for a choreographed dance routine, which she perfectly delivered when I saw her live back in 2019.

J. Cole (feat. Amber Coffman & Cults) - 'She Knows'

This is a track that myself and my best mates CANNOT hear without thinking of each other. Every time we get together and have a few drinks, this bad boy gets played way too loud. The drop at 31 seconds gives me goosebumps every time I hear it and the baseline throughout the track is killer. Merge all that with J Cole's flow and the sample of 'Bad Things', and you've got something mind blowingly brilliant.

Highly Suspect - 'Lydia'

I haven't come across a band like this in a very long time, the emotion you hear in every beat and the meaning in Johnny’s vocal is incredible. As a huge fan of Queens of the Stone Age and Royal Blood, I love their guitar sound - raw and gritty, just adding to the blues influences in the track. Their songs often have the capacity to make me feel a tad melancholy, but I can't seem to get enough of them.

The Pussycat Dolls - 'React'

Don't judge me, but I LOVE this song. So catchy and a undeniably guilty-pleasure pop track! Not sure the PCD really fit with my values, but musically, I love this song!

Camo & Krooked (feat. Jeru The Damaja) - 'Set It Off'

I can't ignore the DnB genre. It’s so important to me for so many reasons and this track actually recently got added to our wedding playlist (sorry Mum). There are so many tunes in this genre that could make this list, but I've had this one on loop over the last few months. The breakdowns at 1:00 and 3:00 are beyond incredible (can you tell there is a bit of an obsession with an epic breakdown for me!) I challenge you not to rock a 'screwface' at the drop.
