5 Songs I Love w/ Tex Moonlight

Following the release of his brand new track 'God Knows I Love It', we were keen to find out more about what inspires Tex Moonlight's unique sound. Check out his handpicked tracks below and if you're a fan, be sure to check out the new single 'God Knows I Love It'!

1. Jaime Wyatt - "Neon Cross"

What’s not to love here? Fantastic song, great lyrics, Shooter Jennings-produced, Jamie’s a star with the voice of a desperado angel, features Urban Saddles (Building hope and opportunity for youth and community through the equine experience and the cowboy code of the west. https://www.urbansaddles.org/) What can I say? I’m in love!!

2. Sharon Van Etten - Every Time the Sun Comes Up

I can listen to Sharon tell me stories all day long. Beautiful, plaintive voice that gets me in my feels every time. This video’s melancholy vibe sucks me right in. I see a meditation on artistry, performing, and aging. Absolutely love this.

3. The Neverly Boys – Never Come Down

People ask me how I got through the pandemic, and the answer is easy…this album. The lead track, “Never Come Down,” feels like a little bit of perfection to me. The lyrics draw me in and tell a story that I instantly want to know more about. It’s like a true crime doc on Netflix…you start watching and you can’t stop. Love their harmonies too!

4. Orville Peck - The Curse of the Blackened Eye

Orville Peck is next level talented. His voice drips with country/soul Elvis, and the arrangements/musicianship are Wrecking Crew-era caliber. You may even hear a hint of Led Zep’s “Ramble On” bassline subtly meandering through this track. And the lyrics, so beautiful and opaque, like anybody who hears them could interpret them to be personally meaningful. A true gift of Orville’s.

5. Dum Dum Girls - Lord Knows

Ok, watch the video to this exceptional song and try and tell me you’re not ready to be sacrificed. Delicate, transcendent, and the default soundtrack for all your Samhain festivities! This song is what tragic beauty sounds like. Thank you, Dum Dum Girls!!
