Following the release of her ethereal new single 'Karman Line' we caught up with Irish Singer-Songwriter Aural Air to find out more about the music she loves and why! Check out her selection below and if you're a fan, be sure to check out 'Karman Line' at the end of the article.
1. Cherry Lips - Garbage
"Probably one of Garbage's most catchy songs. Shirley Manson sings about a JT Leroy-inspired trans teenager, and the production by the rest of the band gives it a sickly-sweet bubblegum sound. I think the album Beautiful Garbage is great - so many diverse textures and melodies going on in there."
2. Love Won't Be Leaving - Anna Calvi
"I love how mysterious and alluring Anna Calvi is as a performer, Love Won't Be Leaving is a very dynamic song, moving from a quiet whisper that draws you in, to cavernous triumphant choruses. I have a life-long obsession with trying to recreate the guitar solo!"
3. The Party - St. Vincent
"I like The Party so much because St. Vincent takes an everyday experience like going on a night out, and turns it into something very immense, magical, and beautiful. The last minute or so is dreamy..."
4. Death Song - Robbie Basho
"My favourite song by Robbie Basho, I think his voice and vibrato is at its most expressive here. His intricate fingerstyle guitar-playing sounds out of tune at times, giving a drone-like feeling to the song. It amazes me that this song was never released."
5. Cupid Come - My Bloody Valentine
