Maryann Connolly continues to carve out a distinctive space with ‘Etched In Love’, a track that leans into her signature fusion of pop-rock, Americana, and subtle country textures. The production feels rich yet restrained, allowing her airy, emotive vocals to take centre stage. There’s a natural ebb and flow to the arrangement, with full-band instrumentation adding depth without overpowering the song’s intimate core.
There’s a cinematic quality to the sound, but it remains grounded in sincerity, rewarding repeat listens with subtle details in both arrangement and delivery. As a snapshot of her evolving artistry, it’s a compelling release that positions her as one to watch in the current pop-rock landscape.
We had the chance to sit down with Maryann to learn the 5 songs she loves right now, here at FLEX!

1. Duffy - Mercy
Mercy Mercy, you got me begging. Just like the lyrics say, it’s the struggle for liberation for the emotional chains that bind you. It is a reminder that love brings both joy and pain. When I perform it, the retro sound brings out my soulful side. When I was 14 years old, I won our local “Coconut Idol” competition with my performance of Mercy.
2. One Direction - What Makes You Beautiful
This song was an anthem to me by boosting my self esteem and realizing beauty lies within. This is a top 5 for my “golf cart karaoke” time with my dog Lucy. We drive around singing loudly to empower us.
3. Journey - Don't Stop Believing
This title speaks for itself. I always embrace Journey songs especially Don’t Stop Believing. This song always urges me to hold on to my dreams and never lose faith.
4. Joss Stone - Right To be Wrong
I love the powerful and emotional lyrics of stepping out of your comfort zone and not caring what others think of you. I have got a Right To Be Wrong, My mistakes will make me strong and lead me to self acceptance.
5. Taylor Swift - Shake It Off
My middle school song to get me through the challenges of my bullies. Me: “Can I sit here?” Them: “Nooooooooo!!!” Cause the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, I’m just going to shake it off. This song encourages me to be myself, laugh, and shake it off. It was my joyful way to cope with humiliation and challenges.
