5 Songs I Love w/ Osana AD

Following the release of his track, 'Bridal Shower', we caught up with Osana AD and asked him about his 5 favourite songs at the moment. Find out more below:

Madvillain - Accordion

This, simply moody but quite entertaining Rap - I hold the mic and your attention like 2 swords. The kind of nerd or backpack rap anyone would enjoy. Who knew an Accordion could sound so beautiful with Rap.

Kendrick Lamar  - The Art of Peer Pressure

This took me to a different world but one I could relate to as a youngin - Foreign to me but familiar in many ways than a NY state of mind. This song made me think about my life as a teenager, what I desired out of life and how friends had influenced most of my activity.

Fela kuti - Trouble Sleep Yanga Wake Am

This song got alot of play by my school band (military anthem). As much as I love the beauty of the melody and calmness of the vibe. The history behind it makes it even poignant. Ice Prince - Oleku

I was in college and it was huge for a commercial rap single with an amazing chorus that was motivating about going for the best in life and nothing getting in your way. Tell me what I can not do - the chorus sings. An easy afrobeat bop with empowering bars.

Nas - N.Y. state of mind  One of the songs with great imagery through rap and for me, since I took the craft seriously I needed to hear this over and over at the age of 18 to understand what was possible through rap. Painted what NY was like for a kid from Africa who enjoyed rap music. Also, the first thing I learnt how to play is the piano!
