Alt-pop singer-songwriter Ariyel has returned with “sister sister,” a shimmering, slow-burning dream pop anthem that glows with both tenderness and quiet strength. As the second single from her upcoming concept album — following May’s “how to be loved” — it continues her deeply personal exploration of the emotional terrain of living with CPTSD. This isn’t just a song; it’s a carefully crafted vignette of resilience, connection, and the silent languages spoken between women who have walked similar paths.

On “sister sister,” Ariyel joins forces once again with Oregon-based singer-songwriter Emily Sangder, their second collaboration since 2021’s “grow together.” The chemistry between the two is undeniable — their voices intertwine like threads in a tapestry, creating a sense of intimacy that feels almost sacred. The harmonies carry both ache and comfort, as if they’ve bottled the bittersweet relief of being truly understood.

Produced by august mez and written by Arielle Marie Ward, the track moves with the gentle persistence of a tide, washing over you in waves of airy synths, soft percussion, and spacious arrangements. It’s a soundscape that invites stillness but rewards deep listening, revealing delicate details with each replay. The production leaves ample room for the lyrics to breathe, letting their emotional weight linger long after the song fades.

“sister sister” feels like a hand reaching through the dark — a quiet, steady reassurance that you’re not alone in your story. Ariyel and Sangder don’t just sing about shared trauma; they honor it, transforming pain into something luminous. It’s a song that sits with you, shoulder to shoulder, without demanding you be anything other than exactly where you are. And in that stillness, it’s quietly unforgettable.

“I had a dream where the other woman reached for my hand. Even if I never get that in real life, this song helped me let go of the anger. I hope it can do that for others, too. This was one of those therapy songs. I worked through the animosity I'd been holding onto and came out the other side. I hope it helps people feel less alone.”
