Brighton’s rising indie-punk trio Bacci Pouch have unleashed their latest statement, the four-track EP Pouch Core. Hotly anticipated after a string of packed-out live shows and festival slots, the release captures the raw energy of the band’s performances while cementing their growing reputation as one of the most exciting new names in the UK guitar scene.
Recorded at Small Pond Studios with acclaimed producer Sam Coveney (Lovejoy, CLT DRP, The Guts) and mastered by Alessandro Kogolo, Pouch Core blends the jagged spirit of 70s punk with a modern indie-rock edge. Drawing comparisons to The Libertines and Buzzcocks, the EP is vibrant, unpolished, and unapologetically direct.
“Pouch Core is a collection of songs that neatly presents a lot of the feelings of overwhelming uncertainty and extreme excitement you have in your early 20s,” says vocalist and guitarist James Neighbour. “It’s easy to write about these things when you’re living and feeling them every day.”
The record’s singles showcase the band’s dual sides: Running Around bursts with restless optimism, while Everydayreflects on the disorienting speed of change in young adulthood. Longstanding live staples It Ain’t Pretty and Someone Else’s Clothes round out the release, bringing the trio’s setlist favourites into their sharpest studio form yet.
Neighbour’s wiry, Libertines-inspired guitar lines and Buzzcocks-flavoured vocals are matched by Sam Raymer’s propulsive bass and Charlie Heasman’s driving rhythms. Together, they deliver a sound that fuses garage-rock grit with infectious indie melody—intense, heartfelt, and impossible to ignore.
Over the past year, Bacci Pouch have taken their frenetic live show nationwide, supporting acts including The Dream Machine, The Skinner Brothers, and Aerial Salad, while headlining sold-out gigs at Brighton staples The Green Door Store and The Prince Albert. This summer, they reached a new milestone playing to a capacity crowd at Y Not? Festival, on a lineup featuring The Prodigy, Primal Scream, and Franz Ferdinand.
With Pouch Core, Bacci Pouch are no longer just a name buzzing on Brighton’s underground circuit—they’re stepping confidently into the spotlight as one of the UK’s most promising new guitar bands
