Black Bordello shine on the striking new single 'Daddy' - a dark theatrical and emotional offering that teases the upcoming sophomore album from the quartet.

Emerging from South East London the group have steadily built a reputation for their genre-defying sound. Their work blends elements of vaudeville, post-punk, jazz, psychedelia, gothic rock and chamber pop into a richly textured sonic identity. At the centre of it all is frontwoman Sienna Bordello, whose soaring soprano and darkly poetic songwriting have invited comparisons to some of alternative music’s most distinctive voices.

Their upcoming album Midheaven Tempest, produced by Balazs Altsach, signals an evolution in direction. While retaining the band’s signature theatricality and intensity, Midheaven Tempest is expected to explore darker, more immersive territory, incorporating trip-hop rhythms and industrial tones into their already expansive palette.

The new single offers a striking preview of what’s to come. ‘Daddy’ unfolds as a deeply atmospheric and emotionally charged piece, weaving together post-punk urgency, progressive flourishes and art-pop sensibilities. The track moves fluidly between delicate orchestration and moments of raw intensity, showcasing the band’s willingness to take risks while maintaining a strong narrative core.

Speaking about the single, Sienna explains: "Daddy is the most emotionally honest and difficult song I've ever written. It follows the processing of my father's tragic death through theatre and surrealism. It is a ballad about my relationship to my own father, and how his absence has re-sculpted my identity. I was also thinking about the broader aspect of 'The Father' religiously and societally when I wrote the song.”
