Paris-based indie art-rock project Books of Moods, led by multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Hugo Sailer, has been quietly building a musical world where nostalgia meets boundless imagination. Drawing from the eclectic spirit of the ’60s, ’70s, and early 2000s, the project blends the raw edge of rock, the introspection of indie, and the textural richness of art-pop into a sound that feels timeless yet unmistakably modern.
With influences ranging from David Bowie and The Beatles to Arcade Fire, Sales, and Crumb, Books of Moods creates music that invites listeners to drift between eras and emotions. The project made its debut in December 2023 with "Happiness", a track that has already surpassed 30,000 streams.
Now, Books of Moods returns with “Space - Part I”, an entrancing exploration of cosmic reflections and existential musings. Combining the raw grit of The Velvet Underground with Bowie’s celestial touch, the track weaves layers of male and female vocals into a rich sonic tapestry, adding emotional depth and dimension. The result is a soundtrack for quiet contemplation under infinite skies.
At once nostalgic and forward-looking, “Space - Part I” is also an invitation to step into a serene yet thought-provoking soundscape. Its melancholic beauty offers a moment of stillness while hinting at hope, making it equally suited for late-night reflection or a solitary walk through the city.
