With the music industry still remaining a predominately male-oriented space, many women looking to break into the industry are beginning to do so on their own terms. Regularly setting up small businesses on the fringes, these early upstarts are now blossoming into heavy hitters across the spectrum, and creating a whole new era within music that has female at the forefront.
So to celebrate this year's International Women's Day, we wanted to honour those that have broken convention in order to pursue their own vision within music, becoming the dominant force they are today.
