‘Love en paillettes’ ultimately works because Chloé French treats frustration as momentum. Here, the New York-based Swiss-French artist takes the exhaustion of inconsistent dating and channels it into a sharp, bilingual disco-house track that sounds more interested in confidence than complaint. From the opening “J’veux un nouveau mec”, she makes her position clear: she knows what she wants, and she's not particularly interested in pretending otherwise.

The production pushes her sound into a harder space than before. Disco and house remain central, but there's a stronger industrial edge underneath, giving the track more bite and definition. It feels polished without becoming overly sleek, with enough tension in the rhythm to keep the song from settling into easy retro pastiche.

Her use of both English and French also feels especially effective. The language shifts arrive naturally, reflecting the way she actually communicates rather than functioning as a stylistic gimmick. They give the track extra rhythmic movement while reinforcing the sense that she is drawing from several musical and cultural worlds at once.

Following 'The NY Tapes', it feels like a clear progression with bolder writing, firmer production and a stronger sense of identity. She sounds increasingly comfortable pushing personality to the front rather than letting atmosphere do all the work, and the result is stylish, playful and impressively focused.

But one thing is abundantly clear; Chloé French wants something better, says so plainly, and wraps that conviction in a track built for movement.
