Spanish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Denis Granan returns with his latest single ‘Surrender’ this week, exploring atmospheric tensions and surreal liberation.

Granan creates music that blends electronic textures with organic emotion. Based between Berlin and Madrid, his sound is intimate yet expansive, drawing from his diverse influences and background. As a co-founder of Fluctua Records and one half of the electronic duo Rabbit Hole, Denis has spent years shaping his artistic voice. Since 2021, he has been steadily refining his sound, leading up to his debut album—a project that merges haunting melodies, deep atmospheres, and introspective lyrics.

Co-producing 'Surrender' alongside collaborator Ed Is Dead, Granan creates an atmospheric track that shines in its electronic soundscape and delicate vocals. ‘Surrender’ was written at a songwriting camp organised by Granan himself, under his own label Fluctua Records. Birthed from the collaborative practice natural to making music, ‘Surrender’ stands on the backs of many creative minds - and is finally ready to be shared with the world.

‘Surrender’ calls in a vulnerability akin to James Blake; nods to Thom Yorke’s ethereal intensity; and hones Sohn’s refined synthetic pulse. Granan shares, “I had a few songs in mind that were meant for me. At the time, I was heavily influenced by James Blake—especially Limit to Your Love. I started playing around with that kind of vibe, and by the end of the day, together with Daria Kickler and Sami Van Hasselt, we had the first version of Surrender.” What he adds is a feeling of minimalist expansiveness – haunting vocals glide over immersive textures and organic rhythms, allowing surrender to be explored as liberation. Invoking a hypnotic, melancholic feel, Granan pours raw emotion atop meticulous sound design. What arrives is an intimate journey of electronic sonics, pulling the listener into a space between tension and release.

On the single, Granan shares, “In its early form, the song was much more acoustic, with very few electronic elements. It wasn’t until 2024, when I met producer Ed Is Dead in Madrid, that Surrender took its final shape. I knew I wanted to work with him, so I showed him the track, and he immediately connected with it. He pushed it much further than I had imagined. He introduced these beautiful, classy trip-hop drum beats, which I think became the climax of the track. The journey from the first idea to release day was long, but I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out—especially with the stunning visuals by Silvia Coca and Alex Arteaga, which perfectly complement the song’s atmosphere.”

With his debut album on the way, Denis continues to evolve his sound, crafting music that resonates on both an emotional and sonic level.
