Out today, the anticipated debut EP from the East London quartet Forever Forever is a luminous exploration of growth, vulnerability, and the turbulent beauty of your twenties.
Emerging from the heart of London’s independent scene, Forever Forever have quietly been crafting their sound over the past three years - a blend of shimmering electronic textures, folk-rooted warmth, and the emotive intensity of alternative pop. Their debut EP, Good Light In, produced by Jasper Trim (Finnegan Tui, A K Patterson) and band member Fionn Connolly (Modern Liv, George Bone), before being mastered by Nick Powell (Arlo Parks, Loyle Carner), captures that delicate balance between intimacy and expansiveness in stunning form.
Across six tracks, Good Light In radiates with nuance and depth. It fuses 2000s indie sensibilities with inventive electronics and lush, timeless four-part harmonies, sitting somewhere between the likes of The National, Sufjan Stevens, SOHN, Glass Animals, and Bon Iver.
From the title track’s blend of twinkling synths, fingerpicked acoustic guitar, and whispered vocals, to the angular sampling and melodic precision of 'Stasis', the EP showcases the band’s deftness at crafting mood and movement. Elsewhere, 'Difficult Feelings' and 'Navigate' strip things back to raw emotional core, revealing a group unafraid to wear their hearts on their sleeves.
Speaking about the EP, the band explain: “Our debut EP was 3 years in the making. The writing was originally about looking after your mental health - Good Light In is a song about finding joy through difficulty, Stasis is about decision paralysis & feeling stuck, Navigate is about how to ask for help when you’re struggling. As the writing process progressed, those themes developed into the general struggles of trying to build a life when there’s no pathway laid out for you. Difficult Feelings was written about never getting to see your partner because you’re both working on different schedules - it’s the most emotionally open song on the record, and really reflects where I (Fionn) was at the time. And then, Hung Me Out To Dry is a love song for a relationship that never happened, about letting go of feelings that you’ve held onto and moving on with your life. The EP as a whole really reflects that turning point you go through where you want to change your life but you don’t know how. Writing and recording it was a really organic process through that point in our lives, and we’re really proud of how it’s turned out.”
Forever Forever have qucikly built support across tastemaker press as well as from BBC Introcucing, alongside multiple Apple Music editorial features and over 40,000 streams to date. Their recent sold-out headline at The Troubadour marked another milestone, and momentum shows no signs of slowing. The band are set to celebrate Good Light In with a headline launch show at Paper Dress Vintage this evening, with tickets already sold out.
