Walking a tightrope between heavy riffs, roaring drums and high-octane performances and a masterful lead vocal that is both vulnerable and empowered is one that explodes with light. Amongst the new-school indie rock flair lies a rich noughties nostalgia, where the last single was a self-described rom-com, the new number leans into a confident coming-of-age anthem.
The band commented, ”Blue is about swallowing your pride and embracing the end of a relationship. It was one of the first songs we wrote as a band and has closed our set ever since. It's chaotic and messy.”
Meeting over a double-booked practice room at Edinburgh Art College and forming a sound that debuted to acclaim from BBC Introducing, Radio X, and Channel 4, Fright Years are quickly becoming one of the most exciting indie bands across their home city.
