Following a premiere on BBC Radio 1, Nottingham-born, London-based solo artist GoodThing returns with the infectious new single ‘I Like The Way I Feel’, a groove-led release that continues to build momentum around the emerging multi-instrumentalist.
Describing his sound as “Tarantino Disco”, GoodThing blends elements of neo-soul, electronica, disco and dreampop into a distinctive sonic palette. On the new single, those influences converge into a vibrant and playful production that nods to the inventive sampling of Gorillaz and Air, while drawing from the hypnotic groove-driven approach of Primal Scream and SAULT. The result is a funk-flavoured sound that sits comfortably alongside the modern genre-blurring output of Jungle and BADBADNOTGOOD.
Produced by Callum McGuinness at Moss Studios, ‘I Like The Way I Feel’ highlights GoodThing’s instinct for colourful, detailed sound design. Opening with cut-up guitar loops and field recordings, the track quickly settles into a loose, swinging rhythm built around buoyant basslines and crisp percussion. Half-spoken vocals glide across the groove, pairing vivid lyricism with inventive sampling to create a sound that feels both danceable and experimental.
Speaking about the track, GoodThing – whose real name is Jordan – describes it as a celebration of intuition and self-belief.
“The ‘I like the way I feel’ sample that opens the track is a celebration of feeling good, moving on pure intuition against the odds, and the power of self-belief. With shades of disco groove, electronic and golden-era hip-hop sampling, it’s a homage to trusting your gut and following whatever makes you feel good.”
Recorded in a single day with McGuinness at Moss Studios, the song also explores the tension between ambition and self-doubt.
“Lyrically the song explores the tension and irony between dreaming big and the ways we can unknowingly hold ourselves back from getting there. ‘You know I would if I could but I struggle to change…’”
Visually, GoodThing is building a world around the project inspired by classic cinema and vintage sportswear aesthetics. References range from Goodfellas and The Godfather to retro campaigns from Adidas, helping shape the project’s distinct identity.
The artist has already begun carving out a presence on the live circuit with a series of shows across London, while tastemaker support has come early from BBC Introducing East Midlands, alongside radio rotation on BBC Radio Nottingham, BBC Radio Leicester and BBC Radio Derby.
With ‘I Like The Way I Feel’ marking another step forward, GoodThing is positioning himself as one to watch as the project continues to gather pace heading into 2026.
