Canadian indie-pop sensation Housewife (Brighid Fry) kicks off 2025 with the exciting announcement of her highly-anticipated new EP 'Girl Of The Hour', which will be released on the 7th March via Submarine Cat Records. The news comes alongside the release of the EP’s bold and introspective lead single ‘Work Song’, available now.
Building on the momentum of a prolific 2024 with standout tracks like ‘I Lied’, ‘Wasn’t You’, ‘Life of the Party’, and ‘Divorce’, 'Girl Of The Hour' continues the expansive, emotionally charged indie-pop soundscapes that Housewife has become celebrated for.
A standout on the forthcoming EP, ‘Work Song’ delivers an anthemic energy, blending Housewife’s signature mix of sharp lyricism and inventive soundscapes. The track explores the tension between ambition and burnout, offering an honest yet humorous take on self-expectation.
Speaking about the single, Housewife shared, ‘Work Song’ is about feeling unsatisfied with yourself and where you’re going. I have really high expectations of myself but also have really unhealthy habits, so I oscillate between being a workaholic and being burnt out. I wanted to poke fun at myself, while still processing it as a valid issue in my life. This song is for anyone else out there with executive functioning issues who sometimes feel like a hot mess.”
