--

Hey Index Dex, welcome to FLEX! How are you doing?

Thanks for the warm welcome, I am doing well thanks

Your new single ‘Plan’ is a powerful anthem with intense energy. Can you walk us through the inspiration behind the track?

The Song Plan is like my  heart was trying to tell everyone around me that it’s beating and to scream out I’m alive and I and ready for the challenge.

What message did you want to convey with this song?

I wanted to tell everyone that I am here and I mean business. I wanted to make a powerful statement that, says “ I won’t fold”.

How did working with producer OD Hunte influence the sound of ‘Plan’? What did his production bring to the final result?

OD is an absolute legend, his knowledge undoubtably deep and transparent and he was willing to help me to get the best out of our session, we did around 3 projects in total, one more still to be released.

Who are your biggest influences?

My influences change a lot, but my very first big influence is Prodigy from Mobb Deep, I gravitate to a lot of South African musicians or music e.g Nasty C and Amapiano music

How do you feel the UK scene has influenced your music, and how do you blend your South African and London influences into your sound?

The U.K help me to zone into my tone and pronunciation, I had to change it a lot because I was getting labelled as a U.S artist and that made me realise that I needed to bring my South African side more into my music and overall lyrical sound. I don’t use too much slag as I used too, I’d rather be understood than be misinterpreted as someone I’m not. I am international so I wanted everyone to understand me.

How do you stay grounded and motivated in such a competitive industry while keeping your authentic voice?

This is the best question, I have to work with constantly balancing myself out, I have to keep my head in the clouds and my feet on the ground, meaning I have to be deluded about the process of becoming the artist I know I am and the artist that is so far away from achieving this beautiful goal so I keep working as if there’s no tomorrow.

And finally, what's next for Index Dex in 2025?

I am dropping big projects. From the very first day of 2025 I plan to have all my ducks in order. It’s gonna be such a big Year for me that I saying I am excited is an understatement. Without revealing too much, I will say 2025 is The Year of The Index Dex.
