Jack Howard's 'Falling', is the most recent release in the run-up to his debut EP 'All The Things That Came Before'. Showcasing his mastery of atmosphere, the track opens with a soft, immediate vocal supported by subtly repeating electric guitars and the distant but prevalent hum of a synth. After he's drawn you in, Jack electrifies the listen, diving into a chest-thumping bass hit surrounding choir-like layers of the lead vocal.
The raw energy continues into the second verse, Jack's words becoming more unfiltered before he bursts into a flurry of passion, the chorus returning with all the momentousness it can muster, letting the instrumentation shine for a quiet, acoustic-driven moment, before one last explosion of sound.
Jack shares the themes behind the release, “Falling is about cutting someone loose who is dragging you down into the darkness with them. This was one of the last songs I wrote on the EP and it only took about 20 mins to create the whole thing. I was on my guitar and I just heard this choir sing FAALIng in my head. I based the whole song around the one word and all these feelings I'd had locked up for so long finally came rushing out.”
Based in London, but originally from Portsmouth, Jack Howard’s move to the city has seen him garner a slew of attention on the live circuit, each performance drawing audiences further into his soulful vibrance. Jack’s music is a collection of dazed indie, alt-pop and soul, with his forthcoming project, his debut EP, capturing an articulation of his introspection through spellbinding sounds.
