In a world teeming with overproduced gloss and fleeting digital drops, LE BRUIT offers something else entirely—something you feel in your chest before you even understand it. The Anglo-French trio has announced the release of their debut double A-side 7-inch vinyl, Idle Hands / Au Solde des Nuits, a brooding, immersive statement of intent that lands like a sonic fog across the borders of language, time, and genre.

French for “the noise,” LE BRUIT is the collaborative force of songwriters Tom and Johanna, whose voices entwine like dusk and dawn—equal parts shadow and shimmer. Together with their third member, they sculpt what they call rock atmosphérique—a moody fusion of post-rock’s sprawl, shoegaze’s haze, and the dark romanticism of artists like Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, and PJ Harvey.

Side A: Idle Hands

The needle drops, and Idle Hands unfurls like a ghostly road trip—baritone guitar tones stretch over sparse, dreamy percussion as the lyrics chart a metaphysical journey: “with the sun behind you and the shadow of who you are leading the way.” A track steeped in mystery and restraint, it earned the title of Absolute Radio UK’s “Self-Released Song of the Month” in November 2024. Presenter Danielle Perry called it a work of “mystique, beautiful songwriting, and atmosphere”—and rightly so. Its reach has grown ever since, with airplay across Europe and the U.S., quietly becoming a cult favourite among those who crave intimacy in their music.

Side AA: Au Solde des Nuits

Then comes the other side—Au Solde des Nuits (translated: In the remains of the night), a bilingual elegy that aches with absence. Sung in French and English, the track is as fragile as it is soulful, built on hushed gospel harmonies and bare vocal interplay. “Best listened to late at night, when absence echoes,” the band suggests—and they’re not wrong. It's a song that doesn't just play; it lingers.

What LE BRUIT achieves here is rare: a sound both timeless and of-the-moment. Their music is cinematic, yet never overwrought. Minimal, yet emotionally expansive. Each note feels placed with intention, each lyric a breadcrumb leading deeper into the heart of something unspeakably human.

As debut statements go, Idle Hands / Au Solde des Nuits is more than promising—it’s transportive. For fans of Interpol’s stark edges, Mogwai’s atmosphere, or The National’s late-night introspection, LE BRUIT may well be your next obsession.
