Lex Bucha turns rejection into self-belief on ‘Faithless (Sacrifice)’
Lex Bucha is back with his new single ‘Faithless (Sacrifice)’, and this one feels a little different. It’s darker, more direct and, at its heart, incredibly personal.
The Dublin singer-songwriter uses the track to work through the people and institutions that have let him down, while trying to leave their judgement behind. For Lex, that’s closely tied to growing up in Ireland and coming to terms with himself in a country where the influence of the Church still runs deep.
Rather than dwelling on that experience, ‘Faithless’ feels like Lex taking it back. There’s a sense of finally deciding that he doesn’t need to live by somebody else’s expectations, and that there’s nothing wrong with choosing his own path.
Produced by Liam Geddes, the track still has the atmospheric pop sound Lex has been developing since his debut, but there’s more attitude behind it this time. The production is slick, the hooks are there, but the message underneath is what really sticks.
It follows Lex’s debut EP Painless Mode, which explored anxiety and family conflict, and gives us a first taste of a new EP due later this year. With support already coming from BBC Introducing, RTÉ, Today FM and Spin, alongside songwriting credits for artists including Eurovision 2025’s Emmy, Lex has been steadily finding his feet as both a songwriter and artist.
‘Faithless (Sacrifice)’ is ultimately a song about letting go, figuring out who you are and refusing to carry someone else’s judgement with you. It might be a pop banger, but for Lex, it’s something much more important - an act of self-preservation.
