Lizzie Thomas steps into a new chapter with Awakening, her most personal release yet. Recorded at New York’s legendary Powerstation with the Grammy-winning Harlem String Quartet, the nine-track album blends jazz, neo-soul, and vocal pop into a sound that’s entirely her own.
Long celebrated for her interpretations of jazz standards, Thomas now turns inward, pairing her songwriting with electric bass, B3 Hammond organ, and lush strings. The result is a warm, modern record that feels both intimate and cinematic.
“I finally gave myself permission to proclaim my voice,” Thomas says. “This album is about unlearning what you were taught and waking up to who you really are.”
For fans of Snoh Aalegra, Melody Gardot, Laufey, and Nicole Zuraitis, Awakening reveals Thomas not just as a jazz vocalist, but as a songwriter unafraid to bare her soul.
