'Lean Into It' captures that very specific emotional tension of wanting to believe something good is happening while still carrying every reason to be afraid of it. And for Nottingham-born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Marina Rose, that tension becomes the heart of a warm, fluid R&B track that blends contemporary UK soul with elements drawn from her British-Greek background.

Produced by Berlin-based nu-jazz artist Skyline Sun, the single uses sampled bouzouki alongside laid-back funk bass, hip-hop-influenced grooves and bright melodic choruses, giving the track a distinctive identity without forcing its cultural references to the foreground.

Her distinctive vocals are central to that balance. There's softness and ease in the delivery, but the writing underneath is more vulnerable than the production initially suggests. 'Lean Into It' is about learning to trust the possibility of love and safety while still feeling shaped by previous hurt, and that contradiction gives the song its emotional depth.

Influences from neo-soul, jazz, hip-hop and contemporary R&B are easy to trace through her wider sound, but the bouzouki sample gives 'Lean Into It' something more personal. It connects her modern songwriting instincts to the traditional Greek melodies she grew up around, creating a bridge between cultural memory and the music she's making now.

'Lean Into It' sits comfortably in the uncertainty between holding back and stepping forward. And for an emerging artist still defining her sound, that confidence is important. The track isn't so much about conquering fear, but about trusting happiness enough to move towards it anyway.
