Manchester-based indie-pop risers Muddy Elephant have released their latest single, ‘Stay Toxic’, a vibrant, high-energy track that lands squarely in the middle of summer with infectious hooks and cheeky self-awareness.
Fresh from opening for Busted and gearing up for a UK tour alongside Iglu & Hartly, the band continue to make waves with their fizzy, anthemic sound that fuses the dancefloor charm of The Driver Era, the indie bite of Circa Waves, and the commercial magnetism of 5 Seconds of Summer. Add to that frontman Sam’s magnetic presence—frequently compared to Harry Styles—and the band’s onstage dynamic, and Muddy Elephant are quickly becoming ones to watch on the UK live circuit.
Produced by Adam Lempriere, ‘Stay Toxic’ is a glossy indie-pop jam built around bright guitar riffs, pulsing synth layers, and punchy drums. The band have become known for their earworm choruses and raucous live energy, and this track leans fully into both.
Having already ticked off sets at Manchester Academy 3, The Cavern Club, and Chester’s Live Rooms, not to mention support slots with The Darkness and The Hunna, Muddy Elephant are proving their ability to command both studio speakers and sweaty venues.
Speaking about the new single, the band said:
“The song humorously nods to those moments when we knowingly do something a little off—mischievous, indulgent or delightfully ‘toxic’ in the everyday sense. There's no guilt trip here, just a wink at our more impulsive selves. Stay Toxic is less about moralizing and more about embracing our flaws with a grin. It’s a jaunty anthem for anyone who’s ever made a small mess and said, ‘Well, that’s me’.
We wanted to turn self‑awareness into an ear‑worm and toxicity into a comfort zone.”
