Brooklyn dream-pop duo Paperwhite return with 'Looking Back', the luminous centrepiece of their new EP 'Reach'. Dripping in nostalgia and wrapped in a warm, synth-drenched glow, the track captures the quiet ache of memory and the quiet resilience of hope.
Opening with gentle ripples of analogue synths that shimmer like dusk on water, 'Looking Back' evolves into a lush sonic bloom. Katie Marshall’s vocals drift effortlessly across the mix, while Ben Marshall’s widescreen production blends ‘80s-style pads, ambient textures, and glistening beats.
The track’s origins trace back to the early days of the pandemic, a time when, according to the duo, “everything felt suspended.” As they explain, “It came together during a really uncertain time and now finishing it almost five years later, we’re noticing a lot of those themes still ring true.”
