Cork risers Pebbledash continue their upward momentum with the release of ‘Cell’, the second single lifted from their forthcoming EP To Cast the Sea in Concrete, due out 5th November.  Fresh off the back of the bands UK tour with Cardinals and Mên An Tol, the single lands alongside the announcement that the band’s music will feature in the upcoming Netflix series House of Guinness and arrives. The band now turn their sights to their own UK and Irish headline run later this year.

Leaning deeper into their shoegaze palette, ‘Cell’ showcases Pebbledash’s striking fusion of Irish traditional flourishes with alternative rock, grunge textures, and post-punk grit. Recorded by Cathal MacGabhann (Altered Hours) and mixed by Andy Killian (Pretty Happy), the track layers reverb-heavy guitars with melancholic, spectral vocals, creating a sound that’s both fragile and ferocious.

The verses creep in with hushed delivery, building tension until piercing feedback cracks the silence, ushering in explosive drums, biting distortion, and a thick, enveloping bass. This push-and-pull between intimacy and intensity defines the song’s dynamic structure, dissolving delicate moments into searing instrumental breaks. In capturing this interplay between beauty and noise, Pebbledash underline the dual nature of their artistry—at once tender and unrelenting.

Frontman Fionnbharr Hickey describes the single as a raw confrontation with the self:“This song is both an exploration of facing the parts of you that are usually hidden away from view, the parts of you that scare you, whilst also being a comment on the futility of life itself and the frustration that this can bring. Asha’s chanting vocals resonating with the screeching feedback of guitars echo these exasperations. Perhaps my favourite moment in the EP is on this track, dropping with the instrumental break, a vicious and searing guitar feedback. It just brings delight to my ears every time I listen back. I really think people will get a sense of our live shows from the track and the dynamics we bring to the stage.”

In just a short time, Pebbledash have cemented their reputation as one of Ireland’s most compelling new acts. Their catalogue has earned plaudits across press alongside repeated support from BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X, and RTÉ. They’ve also garnered strong Spotify editorial backing, with placements on New Music Friday UK, Melomania, Fresh Folk, and Fresh Finds.

With ‘Cell’, Pebbledash further affirm their place at the forefront of Ireland’s genre-bending underground, crafting music that bridges haunting intimacy and noise-rock ferocity and captures the essence of their haunting live sound.
