Piper Connolly offers up ‘she's too much!’, her sharpest statement yet

At just 15, Piper Connolly is already writing from a place of contradiction, and that tension gives 'she’s too much!' much of its vibrant character. Across six tracks, the LA-based alt-pop artist leans into the messier side of growing up, where confidence, insecurity, humour, heartbreak and self-invention tend to arrive all at once.

The EP’s central idea is straightforward but effective. Instead of treating “too much” as something to apologise for, she turns it into a point of identity. That theme runs through the EP without becoming too rigid, allowing the individual songs to explore different sides of the same larger experience.

‘beautiful life’ opens with more lift, while ‘body bag’ pushes towards a darker pop-rock space. ‘unapologetic’ is more direct in its defiance, and ‘joyride’ and ‘better than this’ help broaden the emotional range of the project.

But the clearest example of this approach arrives with focus track ‘bubblegum with razorblades’. The song pairs a bright, immediate alt-pop hook with a more cutting emotional edge, creating a contrast that feels central to the EP as a whole.

But what matters most is that the EP doesn't feel overly calculated in its ambition. 'she’s too much!' works because it keeps its focus on personality: sharp hooks, live-band energy and writing that's always willing to be contradictory.
