Rodrigo y Gabriela have released 'OurHome', the title track from their forthcoming studio album due to arrive on September 18 via ATO Records.
Serving as the opening piece on the record, the instrumental composition centres around the idea that home can exist beyond geography, instead being found through purpose, connection and personal balance. The track pairs Rodrigo Sánchez's intricate lead work with Gabriela Quintero's unmistakable rhythmic playing, creating one of the duo's more delicate and reflective recent recordings.
The song also carries a personal significance, having been written following the loss of the pair's longtime studio companion, their cat Pelusa. That period ultimately helped shape the wider direction of the album.
Recorded and self-produced in Tokyo, 'OurHome' marks a return to predominantly acoustic arrangements following the electric textures of their previous release. The record also features appearances from Marty Friedman, Hiromi, Hiyori Okuda and Yukihiro Atsumi.
