Irish post-punk quartet Scustin have announced their forthcoming EP The Lock In, due for release on April 22, alongside the arrival of their new single ‘Dodgy Box Pyramid Scheme’.

The track marks the start of a new chapter for the band following a whirlwind 2025 that saw them rack up headline shows, major festival appearances and high-profile support slots for Inhaler at venues including Royal Albert Hall, Ulster Hall and St Anne’s Park.

Along the way, Scustin lit up festival stages at Electric Picnic, Latitude Festival, Wilderness Festival, Wild Paths Festival, SXSW London, Sŵn Festival and Other Voices. The band have quickly built a reputation for live performances that blur the line between band and audience — chaotic, communal and euphoric sets where crowd participation is part of the show.

Produced by Richie Kennedy, whose credits include Interpol, The Murder Capital, Shame, Ride, The Libertines and The Last Dinner Party, ‘Dodgy Box Pyramid Scheme’ finds Scustin sharpening their groove-driven sound into something heavier, tighter and more direct.

Equal parts whacky and bombastic, the track leans fully into the band’s post-punk instincts, pairing distorted bass and guitar lines with dancefloor energy, breezy melodies and biting social satire.

“The song came from a moment when one of the regulars in the pub I worked in actually tried to get me to join a pyramid scheme,” says Joe. “That, combined with our genuine belief that paying for a TV licence is a bigger scam than joining a pyramid scheme, planted the seed. It’s also about that mad pub optimism, where every idea sounds bulletproof after two pints. We wanted it to feel fun, ridiculous and a bit unhinged, but still hit hard and make you move.”

That mix of absurd humour and driving grooves has become a hallmark of Scustin’s sound. Their immersive live shows, often drawing comparisons with Viagra Boys, Warmduscher and Getdown Services, thrive on crowd interaction and loose, unpredictable energy.

‘Dodgy Box Pyramid Scheme’ also marks the beginning of the rollout for The Lock In, an EP that acts as the closing chapter to the band’s debut album Confessions Of A Pub Talker. The record received widespread critical praise, alongside playlist support from Apple Music’s New In Alternative and New In Rock, and radio play from the likes of RTÉ 2FM, BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio Foyle, Amazing Radio and 3FM.

Scustin will support the release with an extensive Irish and UK headline tour throughout February and March, before returning to festival stages later this summer, with further appearances set to be announced.
