London indie outfit Slumber are back with their latest single ‘1993 (Shake It)’, a fuzz-laden, tongue-in-cheek ode to an imagined past that feels more VHS than history.

Swapping the indie glam of debut ‘Julian Casablancas (I Wanna Rock A Pair Like)’ for something rougher and rawer, the track smears distortion, blown-out vocals, and swaggering hooks into a lo-fi dancefloor filler. It’s a mess, in the best way.

Speaking on the release, the band says: “We romanticise eras we weren’t even alive for. I have no idea if people shook their booties in 1993, but I’m gonna pretend they did.”

Already championed by BBC Introducing, So Young, and Spin Magazine, and fresh off two sold-out London shows, Slumber are quickly becoming one of the UK’s most exciting new acts, bootcut jeans and all.
