Following on from the release of 'idk' earlier in the summer, Sofia Gobbi is back as she announces her latest single, 'With Gold'. Taking a step back from the indie-rock soundscapes of the summer, she turns her hand to a more folk-pop oriented sound. Coupling charmed melodies with a heartfelt story, the release offers comfort and truth in the face of personal pain, whilst delivering a performance that is both authentic and remarkable.
She dives in, “'With Gold’ is about finding light after the dark, about struggle, renewal, and learning to see beauty in what’s been broken,” Gobbi explains. “The track draws inspiration from the Japanese art of Kintsugi, where broken pottery is repaired with gold lacquer to highlight its cracks, rather than hide them. That philosophy shines through in the lyric, “you broke me into pieces, but I glued them back with gold,” which I feel really captures the song’s message. I wanted to say that our scars don’t diminish us, they just make us shine brighter.”
