Cork-based alt-rock and shoegaze band The Altered Hours return with news of their self-titled third album, set for release September 26th via Pizza Pizza Records, and a stirring new single 'Lay There With You'.
Recorded direct to tape with acclaimed analogue producer Julie McLarnon (New Order, Lankum), the track unfolds as a cinematic slow-burn, capturing the moody atmosphere of Cork’s Lee Valley. Anchored by a soulful duet, jangling guitars, and swelling Hammond organ, it’s a song steeped in both intimacy and emotional unrest. The chorus, “All I can do is lay there with you, hoping this rain it will ease”, lands like a quiet storm, before giving way to a defiant, descending riff that brims with shoegaze grit and alt-rock tension.
With this release, The Altered Hours showcase a bold new clarity in sound and storytelling, setting the stage for what promises to be their most powerful record yet.
