Hailing from the South West, dub outfit The Barefoot Bandit look to unveil their latest release, a cover of The Clash's seminal hit 'Guns of Brixton'. A colourful reimagining, the single reinterprets the track's gritty, punked-up attitude and replaces it with a reggae-tinged outlook, and even a hint of DnB to boot. A refreshing release, the cover looks to propel the band as ever-rising stars for 20256
Speaking about the release and why they chose the cover, the band explains, ”The original track feels as relevant now as it ever did. We didn’t want to just cover it - we wanted to reinterpret it through our lens. For us, that meant pushing the dub textures further, giving the brass real bite, and then accelerating into Drum & Bass - because that’s part of the same UK lineage. Reggae, punk, rave culture - they all speak to each other. This record is our way of stitching those threads together.”
