Matteo Zandonella Bolco showcases his incredible musicianship through his moniker The Golden Hour. The Golden Hour is a project set out to make you dance with it's retro wave synth-pop elements, nodding to contemporary electronic music at the same time. Whilst the outer layer is a fun and playful sound, he wants to discuss serious subjects that his audience can relate to underneath.
‘Postcard Summer’ is an irresistible offering from The Golden Hour. Drums pierce through the mix, and whilst simplistic, provide an infectious energy to the track that creates a strong foundation. Synths and guitars glisten and ebb and flow in between each other. His voice is powerful, raw but can creep back into the mix when needed, allowing for the instrumentation to be showcased in the full spotlight.
Discussing the track, The Golden Hour shares:
“Kids often lose certainties as they grow up, such as who they want to be or what their dream job would've been. This song makes you feel like there are moments worth sighing for, even though life comes with its fair share of problems, the nostalgia infused single acts like a giant snooze button.”
The track is taken from his upcoming album ‘Lives Like The City’ and acts as a showcase of what we can expect next. Expanding on this, he says:
“This album is a beautiful reminder of who I am. It shows me the struggles and triumphs in my past, while guiding me to what's next for myself. I feel like this album has helped stitch together all those little pieces that make up your identity with an honest listening experience; it gives you insight into where they came from & how we can overcome anything if need-be!” With such an impressive single, we can see the album taking him to the very top.
