The Lightning Kids Keep Themselves Busy With New Release

Updated: Feb 24, 2023

After a first album, All Of Those Nights, in November 2022, the trio composed of Emma Ballantine, Darryn McHardie, and Jonny Spalding just returned with a new track. Formed during lockdown 2021, The Lightning Kids are described as ‘the Retrowave London Grammar’ with strong Synthwave roots mixed with nods to great Californian records by The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, with British Influences including The 1975 & Pet Shop Boys. The album was heavily influenced by 1980’s California and the endless summer nights riding in fast cars, dancing at amusement parks and lying underneath the stars. It tells the story of two star-crossed teenagers and their experiences of Love, loss, heartbreak and growing up. Their new single, titled "All Those Nights - Santa Monica Mix" is in line with their past release and carries the same vibes, yet with a unique touch. All Of Those Nights - Santa Monica Mix’ is a special new version of their album track, with new vocals, and is heavily inspired by the band's love of 80s Californian pop and love songs.
