Tom McQ expands his sound on new album ‘Lonely Revolution’

London singer-songwriter Tom McQ has released 'Lonely Revolution', a new album that broadens his acoustic songwriting into a fuller band setting.

Out now, the record combines guitar-led folk writing with bass, drums, keyboards, electric guitars and strings, giving McQ’s songs a larger scale without moving away from their lyrical focus.

The album follows a period of growing attention for the London musician, who has built much of his audience through busking, grassroots shows and regular performances around Covent Garden.

McQ also reached a much wider audience after a spontaneous rendition of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” on a late-night London Underground train went viral, generating more than 11.5 million combined views across TikTok and Facebook.

With more than 200 original songs now in his catalogue, 'Lonely Revolution' marks another step in McQ’s development from street performer to increasingly established independent songwriter.
