Bringing a euphoric, vintage tinge to the airwaves sees Victor Sebastian unveil a hazy dream-like single with his third release of the year ‘LA Sober’. Toeing the line of bittersweet nostalgia and euphoric playfulness, the single is set to cement Sebastian’s reputation as a fast-rising star.
Reverb-embowered guitar chops pave the way for Sebastian’s Casablancas-esque vocal before the hedonistic euphoria of the single fills the airwaves. Taking its name from Californian slang for being high without drinking, the single takes its sonic influences from the sixties whilst paying homage to production textures and techniques from the seventies.
Speaking about the single, Victor Sebastian explains, "LA Sober came from feeling in the middle of living my dream but realising I left my sanity somewhere along the way with the person I left behind. I was in LA, chasing this dream, but it felt like juggling torches on a tightrope. Exciting but terrifying without a safety net.
My heart was in a tug-of-war, and the song was born out of that tension. Writing it felt like letting out a breath I'd been holding for too long while laughing at the chaos and admitting it hurt. And recording it was a chance to capture that raw honesty; no filters (except on my voice), just what it felt like to be in that moment."
