Vonnegut Hardware channel pandemic vibes on their debut single 'Apocalypse Blues'

While the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns were a trying experience for many caught up in them, the number of bands using their time away from loved ones to explore a creative outlet exploded, giving us a flurry of bright and imaginative releases. And while those days may seem like ancient history by now, Indianapolis-based outfit Vonnegut Hardware look to introduce themselves with their pandemic-inspired debut single 'Apocalypse Blues'.

As one of dozens of songs they wrote during 2020, 'Apocalypse Blues' stands as one of the more vibrant and exciting to have made it to the wider world. While its lyrical content and message clearly remind us of those trying times, the general feel of the track is one of vibrancy and euphoria, showing that they are hardly ones to dwell on what has been and instead look towards what is to come.

Adding about the new track, the band's Kurt Vonnegut said, “Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward.”

Capturing a wonderfully bright and uplifting alt-rock energy for their initial offering, 'Apocalypse Blues' is a brilliantly fun and enjoyable romp, brimming with killer hooks and infectious vocals throughout. They may only have just kicked things off, but Vonnegut Hardware are clearly a name we could become much more familiar with in the months ahead as well.

Enjoy 'Apocalypse Blues' below.
