Rising folk artist Yoshika Colwell unveils her luminous new single 'In Bloom', the latest preview of her anticipated debut album 'On The Wing', out July 25th via Blue Flowers. Described by Yoshika as “the most hopeful song on the album,” the track premiered on BBC 6Music with Craig Charles and arrives just as she wraps a UK tour with Sam Amidon.
'In Bloom' is a stirring embrace of what Yoshika calls “sunny nihilism”, the idea that, despite life’s inevitable impermanence, there is still beauty and joy to be found. Delivered with breezy country-tinged optimism and underpinned by rich folk instrumentation, it’s a reminder to cherish the present and those we love while we can.
The accompanying video, directed by Tilly Wace, features Yoshika’s family and adds another layer of warmth to the track’s emotional core. The single also comes with news that she will headline Blue Flowers’ 20th Anniversary Show at The George IV in Chiswick, a platform that has launched the likes of Adele and Jamie T.
With her debut album produced by Oli Bayston (Rachel Chinouriri, Barry Can’t Swim), and following support from 6Music, Paste, The Line of Best Fit, and Stereogum, Yoshika Colwell is emerging as one of UK folk’s most moving and meaningful new voices.
