5 Songs I Love w/ BKANG

We spoke to producer, DJ and musician BKANG, who has recently unveiled his electro-pop anthem 'Take You Home'. We asked him to choose 5 songs he loves and why, and you'd be surprised to hear the eclectic taste of this artist! Check out his favourite picks below and be sure to listen to 'Take You Home' at the end!

1. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I love everything about it. From the structure of the song, to the guitar solos to the complexity of the vocals, and just how well the song is written. Each section of the song flows smoothly and compliments each other really well. The song tells a story and really moves its listeners unlike any other song in my opinion. It’s a timeless piece of music and truly a work of art.

2. P.Y.T - Michael Jackson

This is definitely one of the more underrated Michael Jackson songs, but it’s personally my favorite. The song itself is very upbeat and “bouncy”, it just makes me wanna dance every time I listen to it. The lyrics are amazing and Michael Jackson’s voice adds so much passion to the song which really gives it that energy. The production of the song, although sounds simpler that other Michael Jackson songs, is actually very creative. It’s a perfect example of the term “less is more.”

3. Takeaway (ft. Lennon Stella) - The Chainsmokers & Illenium

This song is one of the songs that make me love electronic music so much. There were a lot of other songs I could’ve put in this spot but I chose this one purely because of how big the synths sound but at the same time not overwhelming other elements of the production. The synths give off so much energy that it definitely put you in a certain mood every time you listen to the song.

4. You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC

I absolutely love AC/DC and this song is certainly my favorite. It’s one of those songs that puts you in a good mood whenever you listen to it and makes you want to sing along on the top of your lungs. It’s an absolute banger and it’s one of the songs that really got me into Hard Rock/Classic Rock. I love the energy this song projects and how it literally moves you by making you want to dance and play air guitar along with it.

5. Dreams and Nightmares - Meek Mill

Do I even need to explain? This song literally gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it with just how good the lyrics are and how much it tells a story. Meek Mill’s vocals gives the song a lot of energy and passion. The first half of the song has a nice piano composition that goes along with the vocals which gave the song a sense of uprising and feeling of motivation. The second half of the song adds some fat 808s that lies underneath the vocals which made the song sound very “mean” and a sense “Gangsta” every time you listen to it.
