Following the release of his latest single 'Legendary', Flex caught up with Peruvian DJ/producer Diego Barrera to find out what influences his eclectic sound. If you enjoy Diego's picks, be sure to check out 'Legendary' at the end of the article.

1. Eddie Amador – House Music (Robosonic Remix)

This is one of my all-time favorite house tracks. Its joyful energy and those unforgettable chords were what really made me connect with this musical direction—and with Yoshitoshi at that time, back in 2019 when I first signed with them.

2. Paul Kalkbrenner – Sky & Sand

Paul Kalkbrenner is one of my favorite artists, and this track is a timeless classic. It captures freedom, nostalgia, and human connection—three themes that resonate a lot with me and often show up in my own lyrics and music.

3. Pescado Rabioso – Cementerio Club

One of my favorite songs in the history of Latin American rock. I love it so much that I have the guitar riff from this track tattooed on my left arm. Its bluesy spirit and melancholic soul hit me every single time.

4. Luciano – Rise of Angel (Andrea Oliva Remix)

An essential closing track—beloved by many DJs, and I’m no exception. It gives me a mix of emotions every time I hear it. The groove is perfect, and the melodies are beautiful.

5. Los Mirlos – Sonido Amazónico

I had to include a song that represents my Peruvian roots. Los Mirlos are one of my favorite bands for their psychedelic take on cumbia. This track has been passed down through three generations and it’s still incredible.
